Regional Passport Office Cochin

Regional Passport Office Cochin is the Ministry of External Affairs’ passport-issuing authority located at Passport Office Buildings, Panampilly Nagar P.O., Kochi, Ernakulam district, PIN 682036. The regional jurisdiction includes Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Palakkad and Thrissur, as well as the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

The office supervises the associated Passport Seva Kendras and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras, and handles back-office functions, police-verification follow-up, escalated cases, administrative work and regional enquiries.

It should not be confused with the dedicated PSKs in Aluva and the Tripunithura/Karingachira area of Ernakulam district. Unlike a PSK or POPSK, a Regional Passport Office is responsible for functions after application intake, including passport issuance, review of verification material, processing of escalated files and coordination with other authorities.

The associated centres ordinarily handle applicants’ booked front-end visits. Citizens can use Passport Seva to find the appropriate centre, prepare documents, pay the applicable fee and monitor their application status without assuming that this administrative office accepts every walk-in application.

The office’s published enquiry arrangements and holiday notices should be checked before a visit. The national helpline, 1800-258-1800, provides general Passport Seva support, while separate regional contact details are supplied when officially available. This distinction helps avoid visiting the wrong building for biometric appointments.
